The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Thesaurus is an aid for library workers and library users. The thesaurus provides guidance to the appropriate terminology to input, and for the users of libraries to aid in searching library catalogues, using the appropriate terminology to gain maximum results for their search.

Art & Architecture Thesaurus On Line
This site provides free access to the Art & Architecture Thesaurus. The AAT is a structured vocabulary containing around 125,000 terms and other information about concepts. The coverage of the AAT ranges from Antiquity to the present, and the scope is global. Terms in AAT may be used to describe art, architecture, decorative arts, material culture, and archival materials.
Geoscience Australia: Place Name Search
The Gazetteer of Australia 2002, which is a compilation of over 297,000 geographic names in Australia, is provided by members of the Committee for Geographic Names in Australasia.
Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names
This site provides free access to the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names that contains around 1,000,000 names and other information about places. The TGN includes all continents and nations of the modern political world, as well as historical places. It includes physical features and administrative entities, such as cities and nations. The emphasis in TGN is on places important for art and architecture.
The ICONCLASS Home Page
This site provides access to ICONCLASS an iconographic classification system. This system is a collection of ready-made definitions of objects, persons, events, situations and abstract ideas, that can be the subject of a work of art. The system contains approximately 24,000 definitions of objects, persons, events, situations and abstract ideas.
LCSH (Library of Congress Subject Headings) via the Library of Congress Online Catalog
This site provides a database of approximately 12 million records representing books, serials, computer files, manuscripts, cartographic materials, music, sound recordings, and visual materials in the Library's collections. The Online Catalog also provides references, notes, circulation status, and information about materials still in the acquisitions stage. Use the subject browse facility for Library of Congress Subject Headings.
LC Thesaurus for Graphic Materials I: Subject Terms (TGMI)
This site provides a thesaurus consisting of over 6,300 terms for indexing visual materials, as well as numerous cross references.
LC Thesaurus For Graphic Materials II: Genre and Physical Characteristic Terms (TGMII)
This site is a companion to LC Thesaurus for Graphic Materials I: Subject Terms (TGMI. It contains a thesaurus of over 600 terms that were developed by the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division, with input from other archival image repositories.
